Joining our Urban Dream Station Series, VJ Cubeman returns to Urban Dream Brokerage with a new evolving projection series at Wellington Railway Station, transforming the site into a shifting canvas of light, colour and movement. Building on his previous UDB project Shoot for the Stars, as well supporting Jamie Berry through her beautiful Uru series at Glover Park and his ongoing work across electronic music, performance and public events, Cubeman will use the Railway Station space to test a changing mix of projected imagery, visual experiments and collaborative material.

Across the activation at the Railway Station Cubeman will present his own projection work alongside material from other artists, while also hosting live VJ mixing sessions that bring performance energy into the space.

Situated inside one of Wellington’s busiest civic buildings, the project invites commuters and visitors to encounter projection art in passing — sometimes as atmosphere, sometimes as event, and sometimes as a moment of unexpected magic within the daily rhythm of the station.

Darrell Smith has had the privilege of calling Wellington home for the last 45 years. Over the years, he has dedicated himself to the world of digital art, primarily within the electronic dance and performance community. His work has been featured at renowned events such as Homegrown and the Performance Arcade and Matariki celebrations, bringing art and technology together in exciting, immersive ways.
